Man I love Garage Sales!

Here's my score Saturday. All separate garage sales.

A Kerosene heater bought last winter for emergencies. And she was selling it BECAUSE THEY DIDN'T END UP USING IT. $3.00

A hardly used gas can. $0.50

A Spyderco Delica. Great condition. $2.00

That's probably the best I've done in a while. Total $5.50 HA!!!!

Almost felt guilty. ...almost.

Nice score! :ok:

Damn, I have that exact same kero heater sitting 3 feet away from me..

And I thought I got a good deal on it at Home Despot for $59 at the end of last heating season.

This baby really cranks out the heat, but the battery ignitor is worthless. I use a long-reach disposable fireplace lighter. Just do a dry burn when it starts to get harder to light, and then it's like new again.

Awesome finds, Im gonna have to start hitting the garage sales this weekend, thanks for reminding me!

Around here you gotta get up pretty early to beat the Hutterites to the good stuff. They go from garage sale to garage sale in huge vans. An entire family it seems disembarks from the van and methodically but quickly scours the garage sale for anything worth haggling over.

Great finds! I just bought that same kero off craigslist for $45 used only 1 season. I have another one I used last winter and it does heat up the house. The only pain is refilling the kero heater and getting kero every week. They are very fuel efficient and can provide heat, light, and be used to cook on. I even put a camping oven on it and the temp was 350 degrees so you could bake things on top of it.

I end up getting a free 250 gal oil tank that I will convert into a kero tank and hook it up to a kero monitor heater. The kero heaters will be my back up.

With the economy and housing market being bad, I would think people will be selling more items than usual this summer.

No doubt...good thing the government took control of this situation to protect us from destroying ourselves by spilling gas with their new, improved gas valves...

+1 - You said a mouthful brother.

This is the summer of deals if you ask me. Next year they will realize what they have and although it will still probably be for sale, they'll want a premium.

I'm amazed that you found that kind of stuff on a Saturday. Around here, garage sales open on Wed. evenings and by the time Saturday rolls around, they are all picked over.

There are two kinds of garage sales: Ones where the people want to get rid of stuff, and ones where the people want to make money.

If you get to the first kind early enough, you can get some good shit.

I bought a Snapon adjustable torque (20-100 ft lbs) wrench for $5 last summer.

Around here they start on Friday and go till Saturday afternoon.

The weird thing is we didn't get started until about 9:30 on Saturday (usually the best deals are gone). Picked up the Kero heater at about 10:00, the gas can about 10:45 and the knife at almost 12:00.

I can't even tell you how many small electric heaters I saw for sale.

Last year I picked up a good but of sterling for nothing. Gotta go early though.

Last weekend I saw a guy selling two Kero heaters. One for $20, one for $30. Both looked like they were from 1970. I told him, "Oh, you're wanting to SELL them, not get rid of them." He said Yeah. Although I'm sure they still work like a champ, I can get for better. I now have 3. One for $10, one for $12 (with a half full can of kero), and one for $3. I want to keep buying these for barter later, but my bride insists we don't have room (we don't).

I was VERY surprised at the deals I got. In the last 3 weeks I haven't gotten ANYTHNG. My bride always gets something.

Good Job SilverJeep!
This week I didn't find anything at the fleamarket or yard sales but I did have a guy bring a slot machine into my store for sale. I gave him $375 for it. It's on ebay and this morning it was at $1600 with 5 days left. I'm mtnman37879 at ebay.
